Let's talk about GDPR

  • We are updating our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy,

  • GDPR information,

  • Confirmation you wish to continue receiving info from us,

are only some of the email titles we are sure you received in the last month or so. Why such a big fuss about these privacy issues out of the blue? Well, it’s not really out of the blue, in fact the final countdown has already started. On 25th of May 2015 the GDRP will enter into force.

You might wonder what this GDPR is about. GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation or in more legal terms it is known as the 2016/679 European Regulation and it replaces the 95/46/EC Directive. GDPR is a set of rules that have to be respected by all the institutions/organizations operating in the EU regardless where their head offices are. Failure to respect the rules translates into huge fines (up to 20 million EUR or 4% of the annual turnover, whichever is higher). One of the many requirements of the GDPR is to give your consent to be kept in a mailing list and you are ok receiving info via email.

This is the reason why all the companies/organizations are updating their Terms of Services and Privacy Policies.

Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) from UK have created a list of 12 steps what an organisation/institution should before GDPR enters into force. The image is presented below.
