Talking UN Priorities in Nagpur, India

On 21-22 January 2016, Julia had the honour of joining eGovernment leaders from across India in Nagpur for the 19th Annual National Conference on eGovernance co-sponsored by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY).  Julia joined DARPG Secretary Devendra Chaudhar in launching the Conference during a keynote panel devoted to assessing the current status of India’s eGovernment achievements alongside the way forward.  An expert adviser to both UNDESA in NY and UNDP in Delhi, Julia outlined the key elements of international best practice that will help India to improve its overall rating in the UN’s bi-annual Online Service Index.  “Open, connected, citizen-centric government is now the norm,” Julia argued.  “To stay ahead of the curve, forward looking government’s must use these principles to forge a more collaborative eGovernance model in which public administrators and citizens work together to co-create innovative new services for the future."
