Open Data: Gold Mind or Gold Bust

 Julia was featured as an internationally recognized expert in the field of citizen-centric eGovernment on the Open Data Forum, a platform for sharing knowledge and practice in the area of “Open Data”. She has been asked to comment on the European Open Data Strategy launched in December 2011 by the European Commission.

 

Open Data Strategy is expected to deliver a €40 billion boost to the EU’s economy each year. The strategy’s central claim is that Europe’s public administrations are sitting on a goldmine of unrealised economic potential: the large volumes of information collected by numerous public authorities and services.
