Alongside Jeremy Millard of the Danish Technology Institute, Julia helped to opened Workshop 2 – Going Smart and Accessible in Public Services and Cities at the EU’s Digital Agenda Assembly in Dublin, Ireland on June 19, 2013. In a change with convention, the Commission asked Julia and Jeremy to abandon PowerPoint and instead each give a five minute vision of the future of public services. Julia used two well known online brands to make her point: Facebook and Amazon. Public services of the future, she argued, should be as ‘anytime, anywhere’ available as Facebook, and as ‘easy to use’ as Amazon.
